PC Creation

  1. Acceptable Races
    • Any of the Player’s Handbook 1 or 2 races
    • Any player races in Forgotten Realms Player Guide
    • Any player races in Eberron Player’s Guide
    • NO monster manual races that haven’t been ‘completed’. (i.e. no bugbears but shifters are okay b/c they were in PHB2)
  2. Acceptable Classes
    • PHB1 classes
    • PHB2 classes
    • Power Source Supplement classes (i.e. Martial Powers)
    • Forgotten Realms Player’s Guide classes (Swordmage, Dark Pact Warlock)
    • Eberron Player’s Guide (Artificer)
  3. Ability Creation
    • Character ability scores are generated using a 22 point buy as described in Method 2 on p.17 in the PHB1.
  4. Acceptable Feats
    • PHB1 feats
    • PHB2 feats
    • Power Source Supplement feats (i.e. Martial Powers)
    • Forgotten Realms, Eberron, & Dragon Mag feats need to be cleared with the DM
  5. Bonus Expertise Feat
    • Each player character starts with 1 bonus Expertise feat. This is to compensate for the fact that everyone seems to automatically spend one of their early feats on Weapon|Implement Expertise. (If you’re using WotC’s Character Builder look for the button to add an additional feat.)
  6. Start at Level 10
    • Start your toon at level 10.
    • You begin with a magic item of level 11 or less
    • You begin with a magic item of level 10 or less
    • You begin with a magic item of level 9 or less
    • That’s 3 starting items, and you can’t trade them in for gold and buy a bunch of lower level items. So you can have 11/10/9, or 11/9/9, or 10/9/5, etc. Got it? If you want to gimp yourself you can choose 3 1st level items :P
    • You can have “normal” stuff for free, like an Adventurer’s Kit and such.
    • You begin with 4,200GP
    • You can buy magic stuff with you extra gold, but you can only have 2 potions (no stock-piling of a chem lab :P)
    • You must have at least 100GP left over after all of your shopping. You need to have a few sheckles to buy beer, pay for a few nights at the inn, etc.
  7. Background
    • NOT using Backgrounds fluff from PHB2 or FR (yet).
  8. General
    • Don’t use anything that’s a “preview”, like the class previews that show up in Dragon, or the hybrid class preview stuff that’s in the PHB3 snippets. We’ll let other gamers playtest all that stuff.
